The JL Zwane Football Club

Who they are:

The JL Zwane Football Club is a youth soccer club based in the township of Gugulethu, South Africa. 

Currently, the JL Zwane FC senior team is one of the premier soccer clubs in the Western Cape drawing top talent from various townships in the Cape Flats. Their success on and off the field has created such a buzz in Gugulethu that These Numbers Have Faces is now involved in creating a U-10, U-12, and U-14 teams.

The Vision:

Led by former professional player, Coach Eric Kombela, JL Zwane FC is a mentorship-based youth outreach program providing hope and opportunity for young township players.

More than your average soccer club, JL Zwane FC promotes education, HIV/AIDS awareness, leadership, and character development. 

By joining JL Zwane FC, players are making a commitment; not only to high quality soccer, but to the value system that is the foundation of JL Zwane FC.

The Goals of JL Zwane FC:

In South Africa, soccer has an amazing ability to provide hope, unity, and loyalty for entire communities. Through soccer, JL Zwane FC hopes to write a new future for the Cape Flats by affecting positive change through youth empowerment and higher education.  

Senior students from JL Zwane FC who are committed to the values of the team and display high academic ambition are the likely candidates for college scholarships through These Numbers Have Faces.
